Shaba National Reserve is a protected area located in northern Kenya bordering Samburu National Reserve to the east. The park was gazetted as a protected are in 1974. The river-side forests, scattered woodlands and dry grasslands dominated by the Shaba Hill volcano offers best scenic views at Shaba National Reserve.
Wildlife in the Shaba National Reserve
The park is home to some of Kenya’s dry country specials including beisa oryx, lesser kudu, reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra and gerenuk. The Ewaso Nyiro River is a good place to look for big Nile crocodiles. There is plenty of birdlife in the park just same as Samburu National Reserve

Shaba National Reserve is together with Samburu National Reserve and Buffalo Springs National Reserve forms large tourist destination in Northern Kenya. The Park is located 355km from Nairobi and entry gates include Gafarsa gate, Shaba gate, Natorbe gate.
